LCNZ Update 22 February

Dear friends in Christ,

During our Church Workers Conference here in Palmerston North we were informed and have been following the events of the Christchurch earthquake. Be assured that the pastors and workers have been in prayer, and like you, are shocked from the news of devastation and death.

Christchurch pastor David Lipsys is here in Palmerston North and we are assisting him in trying to him get back to his congregation and his wife Janine. She was at her office and has not at the time of this email been able to get home.

I got a phone call from my son-in-law who was at a medical conference at the city centre. He and the other Brisbane doctors escaped the building and have been in a park. Like everyone they are sorting out what to do next.

So, with your LCNZ Pastors please pray. This coming Sunday I am declaring a Sunday of Prayer for the people of Christchurch and surrounding areas. All congregations in our church and hopefully beyond, please set aside time next Sunday for prayer. I will convey this to our Lutheran Church of Australia President to get the word out.

Loving Lord have mercy,

President Robert
